Funding Success for Win on Waste!

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded a grant from the Wessex Water Foundation Environment Fund via Dorset Community Foundation.

This grant will support our work across East Dorset, both in our current Win on Waste sessions and in launching a new session in central Poole later in the year, allowing us to remove more waste plastic from local landfill and recycling provision and redirect it to charities and organisations that can benefit from it.

The Environment Fund supports charitable and community activities across the region that have a positive impact on the local environment. The fund is part of the Wessex Water Foundation which provides dedicated funding for projects across the Wessex Water region every year.

Funding Success for Win on Waste!

Win on Waste, based in East Dorset, is celebrating today after being awarded £9,000 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK.

Win on Waste will use their funding to continue their work around waste minimisation and recycling across the BCP and Dorset Council areas, running 9 face-to-face community-based sessions where local people can bring up to 20 different types of waste which will then be either diverted to local charities and organisations, or responsibly recycled.

This new National Lottery funding will allow the charity to securely work into its tenth year, and expand its services to provide more waste collection sessions in the local area, and support the launch of a Win on Waste ‘How to’ pack in 2023.

TNL Community Fund

National Lottery players raise over £30 million a week for good causes across the UK. The National Lottery Community Fund distributes a share of this to projects to support people and communities to prosper and thrive.

Win on Waste Business Manager, Stacey Woods said: “Thanks to National Lottery players, this grant means that we can ensure the future of our charity into next year – our tenth anniversary year – and continue providing our valuable community waste sessions. This will make a big difference to the communities in which we work.”

During the pandemic, in 2020 alone, The National Lottery Community Fund distributed almost £1 billion to charities and community organisations across the UK.
