Win on Waste was delighted to be awarded £475 by the 2021 Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest at a presentation evening on Friday 1st October.

The funding will be use to update the IT equipment used by the charity, and allow them to provide a laptop to one of their volunteers.

Business Manager, Stacey Woods, accepts the award at The Brewery Tap, Blandford.

Speaking after the event Win on Waste Business Manager, Stacey Woods, said ‘As an environmental charity, we bring recycling into all aspects of running our activities, including our office equipment, which was kindly donated by one of our supporters. This is really beginning to show its age now, so we’re thrilled to be awarded this money by Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest to keep us up-to-date.’

She continued ‘Many of our supporters now find us through our website and social media so it’s really important that we have the tools to keep our information accurate and up-to-date’.

Win on Waste has been empowering local people in the BCP and Dorset Council areas to responsibly recycle their household waste since 2013. Despite being hit hard by Covid-19 and the closure of all 17 monthly waste collection sessions, they have been able to restart seven sessions since June 2021. Common household waste items, such as crisp packets, ink cartridges and used stamps are collected and diverted from landfill towards charities that can use them for their fundraising. Since June 2021 Win on Waste has been able to divert over 200kg of this waste towards local and national good causes.

The Hall & Woodhouse Community Chest includes an annual pool of funds totalling £50,000 pledged by Hall and Woodhouse, and also receives invaluable support, advice and local knowledge from the Dorset & Sussex Community Foundations.

Applications for the 2022 funding round will open in February 2022.
